LOUISVILLE (December 12, 2007) – Lauth today announced it has commenced construction on Salt River Two, one of the largest modern bulk distribution buildings to become available in the Louisville-area. Salt River Two will be a 936,000 SF facility ideal for distribution, manufacturing, or assembly. It is expected to open next summer.
“Salt River Business Park is strategically located at I-65 and Highway 480, just 15 minutes south of Louisville International Airport in Bullitt County,” said Tag Birge, First Vice President at Lauth. “Continued leasing activity in this micro submarket demonstrates the strength of the area as a strategic distribution location.”
Bullitt County is the hottest industrial submarket in the Louisville area. The area contains 2/3rd of all available distribution space in the region and Salt River Two will increase the available space in the area by 55%. Bullitt County is located near five major interstates. Most of the eastern United States can be reached in less than a day drive. The facility is also minutes from the UPS Worldport at Louisville International Airport.
Salt River Business Park is also the location for Zappos.com eastern distribution hub. The company occupies 624,000 SF at Salt River One. Zappos.com is one of the top distributors of shoes and handbags in the world.
Construction of Salt River Two marks the latest announcement by Lauth, one of the nation’s leading real estate developers and contractors. The company announced plans earlier this fall for a 7.1 million SF distribution hub located near the Indianapolis International Airport in the Plainfield submarket and broke ground on a new LEED Registered office park in Phoenix. Lauth also began construction on two healthcare buildings outside of Atlanta and broke ground on an 187,000 SF LEED Registered office building in Las Vegas. Last month, the company began installing the structural steel on NASCAR Plaza, a 20-story office tower in downtown Charlotte.
