INDIANAPOLIS (July 24, 2007) – Lauth and Clarian today celebrated a major construction milestone at the Fairbanks Hall, Indiana University and Clarian Health Education and Resource Center in downtown Indianapolis. During a ceremony today, Lauth topped-off of the 182,000 square foot, six-story building. Clarian President and CEO Daniel F. Evans and IU School of Medicine Dean, Dr. Craig Brater joined other Clarian and community leaders to sign the last steel beam placed on the building’s structure.
“The topping-off ceremony is one of the construction industry’s oldest customs,” said Greg Gurnik, CEO of Lauth. “This time honored tradition celebrates the completion of the most arduous phase of construction, and symbolizes our thanksgiving for a safe project.”
Lauth began work on the Clarian Health Education and Resource Center one year ago. The new center will include a 30,000 square foot, high-fidelity simulation center jointly operated by Clarian and the IU schools of nursing and medicine. Other educational space and some administrative offices of the IU School of Medicine and Clarian will also be housed in the center. The building is expected to open next spring.
This topping-off ceremony marks the latest announcement by Lauth, one of the nation’s largest developers and contractors. Last month, the company announced leases with ULTA for a distribution center in Phoenix and educational-software developer ANGEL Learning at INTECH Park. The company broke ground in May on the Bryan Towne Center retail development in Bryan/College Station, Texas; a healthcare facility for PinnacleHealth in Mechanicsburg, PA; and opened the Bon Secours Health Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Earlier this year the company broke ground on NASCAR Plaza, a 20-story office tower in downtown Charlotte, and signed a lease with Nissan for a new distribution center in Memphis, TN.
